about

In a nod to music and popular cultural icons that shaped our childhood, this song is about those moments when you realize how racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and completely unethical and stupid things (you loved thanks to blissful ignorance to white supremacy, patriarchy, heteronormative misogyny, sexual assault, and so on) are just wrong.

lyrics

Problematic Faves

Steppin’ out in my Bill Cosby Sweater,
over tights made by Uzbek children,
eating a slice of anti-choice pizza pie,
to see Lemmy wearing nazi propaganda
Sing it Out
Intersectional Insight!
Sing it Out
the Feminist Plight
Sing it Out
All your problematic faves
All your problematic faves
All your problematic faves, faves, faves!!
Cheers to songs that praise the Sweet Home
of racism and police brutality.
This is what happens,
when you start to see
the truth in all your favorite things
Sing it Out
Intersectional Insight!
Sing it Out
the Feminist Plight
Sing it Out
All your problematic faves
All your problematic faves
All your problematic faves, faves, faves!!

(These lyrics celebrate Intersectionality in Feminism, but not as a badge or name drop but as a tool for analysis and action and social change. We acknowledge and work to confront the racist history of Feminism as a movement in ourselves. This song is the first attempt at an anthem aimed at using music to call out white supremacy in Feminism. To recognize we are a band with white privilege and we need to Sing It Out, so we can hear each other, learn, grow aware, be humble, and get white supremacy out of Feminism!)
